Fixstars Open Sources CUDA plugin for Eclipse

Tokyo, Japan - February 21, 2011. Fixstars is proud to announce that it has released it's Eclipse CUDA plugin under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2). This is the first integrated development environment for CUDA on Linux.

Until now, there has been no readily available Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for CUDA usable on a Linux OS. Using Fixstars' CUDA plugin for Eclipse, developers can write, build, and debug *1 CUDA C/C++ applications in a easy to use graphical interface on their favorite CUDA-supported Linux distribution.

Fixstars previously included the plugin as part of it's Yellow Dog Linux for CUDA, but with this release the plugin will be available for many popular Linux distributions including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Owen Stampflee, Fixstars Linux Product Manager states, "We will continue to contribute to the plugin, but with the project being open sourced, we hope the plugin will grow to a much wider audience than if we continued to be the sole developer".

The plugin is available for both Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo) and Eclipse 3.6 (Helios) and works with NVIDIA CUDA SDK version 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2.

*1 *1 It can debug a host side code only, because the latest version of CUDA does not support a device emulation mode.
